Don’t Spam Hundreds Of Article Directories

Article submmissionIf you’ve been around the internet marketing community for more than a month, you’ve probably heard of article marketing and how submitting an article to hundreds of article directories can create back-links to your website.

And in return, these links boost your rankings in the search engines and increase the traffic to your website.

But, maybe you didn’t know that submitting the same article to hundreds of directories could be considered spam, and have a negative affect on your article.

However… if links are your only concern then go ahead and submit to as many directories as possible; but do keep in mind, the links won’t be of high quality, and the article will have little chance of ranking well in the search engines.

At a glance, submitting to hundreds of article directories can be very tempting, but there are a few drawbacks that you should be aware of before implementing this strategy.

First, don’t place the article on your main site or blog, if you plan on submitting it to multiple directories.  The search engines will consider this duplicate content and penalize your web-page.

Secondly, someone has to create accounts at each directory which can be a tedious and time consuming process.  Perhaps consider investing in some type of article submission software or outsourcing the job.

Third, even if you use an article spinning software to create hundreds of articles, the articles probably won’t be grammatically correct unless you proof read each one.

Finally,  the article should be well written and newsworthy.  Submitting crap to the directories won’t increase the traffic to your website, and readers may discredited you as a reliable source.

Instead of trying to build hundreds of links to your site overnight, try submitting to 5 or 10 of the top article directories and grow your site naturally over time.  The search engines and human visitors will view you as a creditable author, and in return, will visit your site to gain more knowledge.

Here’s a list of the top 20 article directories that are an excellent source for submitting to:

Do I Need A Blog?

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

What is a Blog?Plain and simple, a blog can help your business; even people who are not bloggers understand the power of blogs.  If you’re thinking about starting an internet business without a blog… Think Again!

Most searches on the internet are informational based, and blogs help quench the thirst for information and knowledge by providing visitors with topical information on demand.

Plus, blogs have a host of other benefits.

One in particular is the power to boost your rankings in the SERPs (search engine results pages) by providing fresh unique content that’s regularly updated.

Also, blogs allow visitors the opportunity to interact with the author of the blog and the community on a social level; this increases confidence and trust amongst visitors to your site.

Probably, the greatest underlying factor of owning a blog is its ability to generate hordes of traffic on autopilot.

You see… a newsworthy blog has the potential to go viral and absolutely swamp your server, even if your site is not ranked high in the search engines.

When you make a post that’s creative and controversial on an interactive platform — watch out — readers will begin to link to your site, bookmark it, and recommend it to friends, family, and other members in the community.

If this happens, you’ll experience an increase in organic rankings, and an unbelieveable traffic surge for free.

Alright, we’ve established that blogs are very important to a site, and play a major role in customer loyalty and traffic spikes.

However, there is one dilemma… not many people like writing articles.

Many website owners would rather spend their time on something else, besides writing articles that take 2 to 3 hours to perfect.

And… plagiarism or copying articles from directories, without leaving the links in place, is frowned upon and could easily get you into trouble… worst case scenario; a hefty fine and jail time.

So what are the other options?

Well — for starters — if you hate writing articles and you can’t afford to hire people to write… then don’t.

Get free articles from the public domain.  This will eliminate the problem of plagiarism and copyright infringements associated with using other folks work.

Public domain articles are free to the public, for public use, and you can do whatever you want with them.

For example, edit them as you please, place them on your website, or put them in your newsletter for distribution.

Just remember to choose articles that are relevant to your site, and be sure to do your homework on the public domain so you don’t violate any of the rules.

I know you’re probably jumping for joy, but hold your horses, there is a downside to public domain articles.

The problem is they are free for everybody, and many of your competitors may have access to them as well.

Now this is a problem because duplicate content raises a red flag with the searchbots, the little spider like creatures that crawl and review websites, and every site needs to be original and unique.

So, here’s what you must do.

Edit about 30% of the content and place your keywords and keyword phrases into the content to make it better.

I know this requires a little work, but it’s better than starting from scratch.

Another easy way to get content is to allow other sites, that are relevant to yours, to submit articles to your site.

However, this would only augment your existing content, because these articles would be linking to other sites.

Personally, I’m not a big fan of placing other people’s articles on my site, but if you don’t like writing this is a legitimate strategy.

O.K… Here’s one option that’s gives you great bang for your buck.

Hire an article writer.

You can get good articles that are keyword rich for pennies on the dollar.

The investment is well worth it, because you hold copyrights to the articles, and you’ll be able to use them anyway you want.

It doesn’t get any easier than that.

Now, go out an build your first blog and make your mark in cyberspace.

Where To Find Newsworthy Content For Your Blog

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

Newsworthy Content for your blogWith all the hoopla floating around, how’s a blogger suppose to find newsworthy content that attract readers like bees to honey.

You see… at a glance blogs can appear to be mere child’s play — just trot right over to Word Press or Blogger, slap-up a blog, spit out a few post, and like magic, traffic appears.

Well… it’s not quite that simple, but let’s assume you were able to accumulate a few subscribers the first month you started blogging.  And in spite of all your hard work, after 30 days of publishing your best content, you hadn’t made a dime and you’re fresh out of ideas.

And speaking hypothetically, you’ve managed to get 200 subscribers to sign up for your RSS Feed or Newsletter who absolutely love your writing and want more.  What now?

How do you keep generating newsworthy content to keep people coming back for more, while you figure out how to monetize (make money on) the traffic?

This scenario may seem far fetched, but nothing could be farther from the truth.  Many writers hit a brick wall and start posting rehashed crap that’s splattered all over the web.

Whatever happens… keep this in mind when blogging, most people in a community or niche are following at least three other bloggers in the beginning to see who provides the best content.  Then as time progresses, they eliminate the clutter in their lives and start to follow the most authoritative writer.

Now… in order for you to reign supreme you must dig up content that’s newsworthy and fresh; but remember, you’re stuck, short on time, and out of ideas.

O.k… here’s what you must do to become unstuck, pounce on your competitors, and gain your readers trust and loyalty.

First, find a forum on your topic.  Do a simple Google Search for your topic followed by the word forum, then sign up for a couple forums in your community.

After signing up, participate in the forums at least twice a week to get a feel for what topics are hot in your market.

Note: Don’t be afraid to make post in the forum when you have something valuable to add, and leave a link to your blog in the resource box.  This will help you establish credibility and trust in you community, and increase traffic to your blog.

Next, go to Google and sign up for a program called Google Alert.

Here you’ll be able to receive emails directly from Google on hot topics in your community on a daily or weekly basis.  It’s a real cool way to stay current, while Google does all the heavy lifting for you.

You’ll absolutely love it.

Now it’s time to sign up for Yahoo Answers.

Yahoo Answers is a huge community that shares information on all most any topic imaginable.

It works like this — people leave questions to different topics that are answered by members in the community; as people answer these questions they receive credits and are able to leave links to credible resources.

And you guessed it?

One of those resources could be your blog, where you expand on the topic at hand.

And finally, open an account with Wiki.Answers.

This is similar to yahoo answers in which questions are posted and answered by members of the community; and another excellent way to find hot topics to write about.

If you use the resources recommended for researching topical information in your niche, you’ll always find newsworthy content that real people enjoy reading.

Good luck and happy blogging.

7 Simple Article Marketing Tips

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

Article marketing is a great way to gain trust in your market, get traffic to your site, and build back links, but all the same, articles have to be written to be read.  And this tiny obstacle prevents most people from succeeding with article marketing.

If you’ve done any research online, you’ve probably read a few articles from some of the top article directories.  These directories contain thousands of articles on every subject imaginable.

Some of the articles are professionally written, while others are crappy and boring, leaving the reader confused and disgusted with the author.

However, writing articles doesn’t have to be some strenuous task that requires the skill of an English major to be successful.

Anyone with a desire to write can become an expert author if they incorporate a few simple steps that makes writing easy, profitable, and fun.

Here are 7 Simple Article Marketing Tips:

  1. Use Short Paragraphs
  2. Use Numbers and Bullets
  3. Use Sub-Headings
  4. Use Attention Grabbing Title or Header
  5. Captivate Your Audience
  6. Utilize Facts When Necessary
  7. Stick With What You Know

Use Short Paragraphs

When the paragraphs are lengthy, the words start to jumble in the mind of the reader and puts an added strain on their vision.

If the material is confusing or requires to much work, the reader will disregard the article and find another one more pleasing to the eyes.

Don’t be afraid to write a single sentence paragraph… sometimes even a single word!

Use Numbers or Bullets

As each point is stressed, numbers and bullets can make the message easy to read and digest.

Make sure you format your bullets and numbers with indentations so readers can easily indentify the sticky points in your article, and your writing want look like boring blocks of text.  This will also add a little bit of flair and pizzazz to your articles shape and style.

Use Sub-Headings

Doing this will break each point into sections and help readers transition from one point to another.

This will also allow readers to skim your article to quick reference its importance.

Use Attention-Grabbing Title or Header.

If your title can entice a person’s curiosity you’ve won half the battle.

Try using statements and questions that utilize keywords that people are searching for.  Also, provide titles or headers that describe your content in a short concise manner.

In addition– use titles like, “Tips on getting your wife back”, or “How to make her smile and blush”.  You could also use titles that can command people, for example, “Get her attention today”.  These types of titles reach out to a persons’ emotions and makes them interested.

Captivate Your Audience

From your opening paragraph, tell a story or use real life situations that can be adopted by the reader.

Use good descriptions and metaphors to hammer your point home, just don’t over do it.

Try to incorporate graphic metaphors and similes that make it easy for them to imagine what you are talking about.  At all cost, make the experience pleasurable and enjoyable for them.

Utilize Facts When Necessary

Using specific facts and figures can heighten your article because it makes it authoritative.

This will also add to your credibility and boost your status in the eyes of the reader.  However, don’t stuff your articles with a ton of facts that bore the reader to deaf.

Stick With What You Know

Try to write on a subject you know very well, and you’ll avoid writer’s block.

This makes it much easier to appear as an expert to your audience, and besides, people researching your topic have probably read a few articles on the subject, and can easily spot the real from the fake.

Remember to incorporate these basic strategies into your writing and start spitting out content.
