Can I Rank Quickly For A Keyword?

How fast can I rank for a keyword?

Great question, and the true answer depends on your skill level and determination.  Let me explain… there are techniques that allow you to rank within 48 hours, if implemented properly, as well as markets where the barrier of entry is low — making penetration ultra easy.

So, depending on how good you are at researching and defining a market, your chance to rank quickly, and easily dominate a niche is in direct correlation to your knowledge and skill level.  The simple answer is yes you can rank very fast.

One technique we use to rank really fast is Article Marketing.  Find a quiet place and write a few articles, then submit them to the top article directories.  You’ll have a chance to place a link back to your site in the resource box of each article.  Finally, promote the article or build a few back-links to it.  If done right, you article could appear on Google or Bing within 48 hours.

The Power of RSS Feeds in Your Business

Rss IconDon’t feel bad if you don’t fully understand The Power of RSS Feeds, neither did I.

I was online for more than a year before realizing RSS Feeds even existed, and to say I knew the purpose or the meaning of RSS Feeds would be quite an understatement.

So, exactly what are RSS Feeds?

RSS (also known as “Really Simple Syndication”) is a web feed format used for delivering regularly updated web content to subscribers.  It’s a really simple way to view and share information from other sites.

And, the actual feed contains the full or summarized text that’s to be delivered to the subscriber.

What does all this mean?

For starters, subscribing to a RSS Feed can be a huge time saver; once registered you will no longer have to visit the blog on a regular basis to receive new content.

The feed is automatically updated when the author publishes something new.

Also, it aides in keeping your email private by allowing you to stay plugged-in with your favorite authors or websites without signing up for their newsletters.

Another great idea is to sign up for an aggregator to save even more time.

A feed aggregator, also known as a feed reader, allows you to grab content from different RSS Feeds and place them in one single location for viewing.

There are plenty of feed aggregator sites, however I use google reader due to ease of use.

As with most of Google Services — google reader is web based and free — meaning you don’t store anything on your hard drive, you’re able to view and share information with other viewers, and Google keeps you up-to-date with what’s popular in your community.

Plus, Google reader keeps up with the information you’ve read by marking it with a dark blue border.

Signing up for Google reader is extremely simple; all you need is a gmail account to log-in and get started.

In addition, most RSS Feeds contain a Google reader sign-up button which streamlines the process even more.

Sometimes, RSS Feeds appear in XML format; if this happens Google reader has a subscriber link that allows you to copy the URL of the feed and paste it into Google reader.

Here’s an example of a page in XML format.

Remember, RSS Feeds are extremely powerful, and play an important role in your online business.  So, be sure to add one to your site ASAP.

Five Jaw-Dropping Tactics For Generating Low Cost Traffic

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

Success online can be summed up in two words massive traffic.  As a website owner, you must be able to generate traffic, especially low cost traffic that converts to sales; without it you’ll starve and your business will perish.

But… it doesn’t take a whole caboodle of currency to generate website traffic for your online business.

Ever wonder how the big players drive traffic to their top sites?

Well, the truth is they spend tons of money on Search Engine Marketing companies to do the heavy lifting for them.  Many large companies don’t experiment with a ton of different strategies, simply because of the time it takes to implement some of the techniques.

You — on the other hand, may need to take advantage of some of the less attractive tactics due to lack of resources.  Nonetheless, there are many ways to generate traffic without breaking the bank.  But to be totally honest, the small business owner needs a good combination of paid and free traffic to be profitable out the gate.

Furthermore, creating market awareness and generating targeted traffic shouldn’t cause you to lose your shirt, especially with a few simple tips and strategies to expedite your efforts.

Here are Five Jaw-Dropping Tactics for Generate Hordes of Low Cost Traffic that actually convert to sales.

Exchange Links

Many webmasters are willing to exchange links with one another to increase public awareness about their sites.   Rarely will you see a site that doesn’t link out to another site. This is a simple but proven method for getting reciporcal links to your site.

A major prerequisite in exchanging links with other sites is having the same niche or content as the other site. They should share a common theme, so that there is continuity in the providing of service and information to what interests your target traffic.

Exchanging links also boosts your chances for high search engine rankings which increases traffic.  It is common practice for the search engines to rank a site high that have inbound and outbound theme-related links. However, do keep your reciprocal links between 20% and 30% of your total links, because one way links carry more weight with the search engines.

Traffic Exchanges

This is like exchanging links but with a twist.  I feel this method is a little more time consuming, but here’s the catch… as you browse around viewing sites you earn credits, which in turn can be used to promote your own website(s).

One of the top traffic exchange sites is Traffic Swarm.  Here are a few simple tips for using Traffic Swarm:

  1. Make Traffic Swarm your home page and you’ll earn credits every time you open your browser.
  2. Surf other sites on the Traffic Swarm network and you’ll earn credits just for visiting their websites!
  3. Put some special code on your site to display text links for other sites and you’ll earn credits.
  4. Refer other people to Traffic Swarm and earn credits PLUS you’ll get part of the credits they earn down 5 levels deep!

If you enjoy using Traffic Swarm, you can upgrade to the pro version for $30 per month, and receive a host of additional benefits.   Plus, you’ll earn $5 per month for every pro member you refer, and you’ll earn money on your downline’s referrals.

Once again the public awareness of your sites existence is boosted.

Write and Submit Articles

Article marketing is one of the fundamental elements for harvesting a good consistent flow of traffic. You can write these articles yourself, or hire freelance writers who are willing to write for you for a small fee, but to save money, it is wise to write those articles yourself.

Be sure to focus your articles on the theme of your website, and write in your area of expertise; so when people read your work, they can feel your knowledge about the subject and visit your site.  Focus on adding value by writing articles that contain tips and how-to-information on the subject or theme of your site.

Also, include a resource box at the end of your article with a link to your website or money page.

Don’t slip on this… take your time and do some research if you’re unsure what to write in your resource box; and be sure to tell a little about yourself, and encourage the reader to investigate further.

Create a Newsletter

This may sound like hard work considering all the articles you may need to produce to build a newsletter, but on the contrary… not so. There are many writers and sites that are willing to provide free articles as long as they can get their name and website published in the newsletter.  This also provides free advertising for them as well.

As your newsletter gets passed around, you will widen your public awareness and build an opt-in list that regularly visits your site.

Join Online Communities and Forums

This only requires your time and knowledge… nothing else. You’ll have an opportunity to share your expertise with many online communities who allow you to leave links in your signature file.

Remember to be thorough with your remarks and don’t try to sell your product or service without first building trust and credibility; and try to add as much value as possible to your post.

As you build your reputation, you also build the reputation of your site, making it a reputable and honest business that could be frequented and trusted by many people.

Now, put these tactics to work in your business and watch your traffic jump through the roof.

6 Cool Ways to Energize Your Online Marketing for Free

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

The best things in life are free, and marketing your business online is no exception.  With all the hoopla about what it takes to get traffic to your website.  People panic and loose sight of the simple things, the basic fundamentals of internet marketing… that work.

With all the free Internet marketing services, one can save huge deposits of cash by simply knowing what to do and how to do it.  Instead of shelling out big bucks on the marketing aspect of your product or service, that chunk of money could be put to other important elements of your business such as developing good content, marketing research, or web design.

Now… Don’t get things twisted; you can’t abandon all paid marketing efforts if you plan on dominating your market, so a good mix of pay-per-click, paid press releases, ezine advertising (this isn’t article marketing), offline advertising, and a few free online tactics can bring in a healthy revenue.

Here are a few of the free methods that you could employ to make your products and services be more visible, thus sale-able.

1. Promote your business through free search engine submission and optimization.

Submit your website to various search engines weekly or monthly, depending on how often you add new content. This will let more people know that your website actually exists. You can do this by pinging the search engines every time you add new content.  There are a lot of free pinging services online, three good ones are ping.in, pingoat.com, and pingomatic.com

2. Submit your articles to article directories.

Write a 400 to 500 word article — that is keyword rich, has unique relevant content, and solves a problem or answers a hot topic.  Then submit the article to an article directory with a link to your website in the resource box.  You can submit it for free to ezine articles, which happens to be one of the biggest and best directories online.

3. Acquire free content for your blog.

If you have no time to write good (SEO or search engine optimization) friendly articles, that humans enjoy reading.  You can look for free content from article directories and post it to your blog.  All you need to do is retain the resource box of those write-ups and like magic, you’ll have great content.  But, don’t over use this strategy, remember the search engines love new content.

4. Install web traffic analytics.

Your website host should provide you with some type of stat tracking.  This is very important to know where your visitors are coming from, and what they find interesting about your site.  If you don’t like your web companies analytical software, then try out Google analytics.  Google’s tracking software is free and excellent for small businesses.  Be sure to put the tracking code on every page you want to track.

5. Use video to get the word out.

You don’t have to be too techie-geeky to upload a video to youtube or viddler.  More than likely, your computer has a video software or a web cam already installed.  Don’t be afraid to shoot a 3 to 4 minute video on whatever you are studying or writing about.  Also, video builds credibility and trust with your audience.

6. Hang out on Social Networks.

This can be a little time consuming but it’s free and it works.  Set-up an account with Twitter, Facebook, or Myspace and start making friends and adding value to your post.  Do remember to put a link in your resource box for people interested in learning what you do.  And if you don’t like those three social sites, it’s o.k., there are tons of others.

These strategies are very easy to implement and use as long as you don’t try to game the system for your own benefit. Just don’t get robust with your achievements when you finally learn how to use them, and remember to share the knowledge with others who need help.
