Simple Technique for Spying on the Competition
Before making a final decision on what keywords would best suit your site, use this ultra easy technique for spying on the competition.
Write down the top ten competitors for the keyword you’re analyzing, then visit each site and take a look at the website’s source code. You can do this by right clicking your mouse, then scrolling down to “View Page Source” and following the link.
Once you’re on the page source code, find the title, meta description, and meta keywords — and write down the information associated with each tag on a piece of paper or in notepad (I prefer notepad). If you have trouble finding the tags, then use the edit button at the top of your screen (next to File) and scroll down to the “Find” tab. This will allow you to enter the text you are looking for on that page.
After gathering the information for you top 10 competitors, you’ll have an abundance of good information for making an informed decision on whether or not to use that keyword on your site. It’s a very simple technique for spying on the competition that’s available to everyone, and you’ll be amazed at that data you can find through a little market research.
